Issie Merrifield is an artist based in Tāmaki Makaurau and Te Whanganui-a-Tara.

She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) degree at Massey University, College of Creative Arts, in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. 

Her painting practice engages with light as both a subject and material. She is interested in serendipitous and neglected moments within the familiar. With the desire to grasp something intangible, her works explore the tension between; spontaneity/ manipulation, beauty/ the ordinary, stillness/ flux, and shadow/ light.
